'Last Warning' for Punjab's Gangsters: Will CM Bhagwant Mann Succeed in Reining In Overseas Criminals?

Chandigarh: March 16, 2026

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, during an important press conference today, declared an all-out war against the state's gangster culture and issued a direct warning to criminals operating from foreign shores. The Chief Minister clarified that the days of gangsters spreading terror in Punjab from foreign soil are numbered. He stated that legal processes through central agencies and the Ministry of External Affairs are being expedited to apprehend and extradite them to Punjab. He emphasized that no element attempting to disturb the peace and communal harmony of the state will be spared.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister took aim at the Central Government by raising major questions regarding the 'VIP' facilities allegedly being provided to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently lodged in Gujarat's Sabarmati Jail. The Chief Minister expressed surprise as to why such facilities are being given to a dangerous criminal in prison and alleged that the Central Government seemingly cares more about Lawrence Bishnoi’s life and comforts than the safety of the common public.

Speaking on the issues of religious conversion and religious politics, Bhagwant Mann also launched a sharp attack on Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Chief Minister made it clear that Punjabis have always fought against tyranny; therefore, no conspiracy to create division in the name of hatred or religion will be allowed to succeed on Punjab's soil. This statement comes at a time when the political debate over gangsterism and law and order in Punjab has intensified, leaving everyone watching closely to see how strictly the government acts against gangsters sitting abroad.
