“I Am Ready for War”: Putin Warns Europe and NATO After Five-Hour Meeting With Trump’s Envoys
Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a fierce warning to Ukraine, Europe, NATO and Western nations, declaring that Russia is “ready for war” if Europe seeks further confrontation. His sharp remarks came immediately after a five-hour closed-door meeting in the Kremlin with envoys sent by U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss a potential Ukraine peace plan.
No Breakthrough in Peace Talks
The high-level meeting included Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and senior adviser Jared Kushner, who engaged in extensive negotiations with Putin, along with Russian officials such as foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov and investment envoy Kirill Dmitriev.
Despite the marathon talks, no agreement was reached. Putin later claimed that European nations were not interested in a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. Instead, he accused them of encouraging the war and obstructing peace efforts.
“If Europe wants war, Russia is ready, ” Putin warned, adding that Western governments were fueling the conflict rather than seeking a negotiated settlement.
Trump’s New Ukraine Peace Plan Rejected by Kyiv
The United States has drafted a peace proposal aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has rejected the terms, calling them unacceptable. With Kyiv refusing the initial plan, the Trump administration has launched new diplomatic efforts—leading to this week’s talks in Moscow.
Putin Accuses Europe of Undermining Peace
Speaking in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Putin claimed European governments intentionally sabotaged attempts to resolve the Ukraine crisis.
He alleged that Europe proposed terms “designed to block any peace process, ” insisting that the suggestions included conditions completely unacceptable to Russia. Putin also accused European leaders of trying to undermine Trump’s diplomatic efforts.
Putin warned that if Ukraine refuses to compromise, Russia will use force to achieve its objectives.
Putin’s Broader Attack on the West
The Russian president also expanded his criticism to Western nations at large, accusing them of exploiting global instability for dominance.
“The whole world is in turmoil, ” Putin said. “Some fight for survival, others for control. Certain nations want to impose their monopoly and suppress all others—but they will fail. Russia stands in their way. If they want to fight, we will fight.”
Threat to Cut Off Ukraine’s Access to the Sea
Escalating tensions further, Putin threatened to block Ukraine’s access to the sea in retaliation for Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian tankers. He described these attacks as “acts of maritime piracy” and vowed a strong response.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha condemned Putin’s statements, saying they prove “Russia has no real interest in peace.”
The latest confrontation underscores the deepening geopolitical divide and raises fresh concerns about a broader conflict engulfing Europe.
