Washington: US border patrol agents have arrested 30 Indian citizens residing illegally in America. In a statement last week, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said that several border patrol agents in California's El Centro Sector apprehended multiple illegal immigrants with commercial vehicle driving licenses at immigration checkpoints and during inter-agency operations after stopping vehicles.
Officials arrested 42 illegal immigrants driving semi-trucks with commercial driving licenses on interstate routes between November 23 and December 12. Of those arrested, 30 were from India, two from El Salvador, and the rest from China, Eritrea, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Russia, Somalia, Turkey, and Ukraine.
CBP reported that California issued 31 commercial driving licenses; Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington issued eight each. The inter-agency operation aimed to enforce immigration laws, protect American highways, and maintain regulatory standards in the commercial trucking sector.
