Just a day after senior Haryana IPS officer V. Poonam Kumar allegedly shot himself dead, his wife, senior IAS officer Amneet P. Kumar, has come forward with explosive allegations. Returning from an official tour of Japan, Amneet claimed that her husband’s death was the result of sustained harassment by high-ranking officials and demanded strict action.

Suicide Note and Allegations of Mental Harassment
The 52-year-old officer was found dead on Tuesday in the basement of his residence in Chandigarh’s Sector 11. Police sources revealed the recovery of an eight-page typed and signed suicide note at the spot.
The note reportedly highlights multiple challenges he faced throughout his career and specifically mentions “mental harassment” inflicted by certain senior officials.

The suicide comes days after a Rohtak-based liquor contractor accused Kumar’s gunman, Head Constable Sushil Kumar, of demanding a bribe of ₹2.5 lakh. Sushil was arrested and allegedly named Poonam Kumar during questioning. Sources suggest that the officer had been under considerable stress after his name surfaced in connection with the case.
